Our Curriculum for 2010-2011

I haven't posted what we are using this year yet, because some of the details were still in the works. The boys are in 6th & 7th grades.

Math U See and Life of Fred Decimals and Percents (we will begin pre-algebra soon) The Mystery of History Vol. 1 (together)
A Beka 7th grade history as well. (as a read aloud)
A Beka Science 6th & 7th grades
Bob Jones Grammar and Writing
Bob Jones Vocabulary for 7th grade
A Beka's 7th grade lit
Notgrass Draw to Learn: Life of Jesus and Psalms. (each picked their own)
Electives: Latin: Prima Latina
Spanish: Cheap book I found at Sam's.
Typing: Dance mat typing (free)
Drawing: How Great Thou Art by Barry Stebbing
I am still working on a list of readers and read alouds for the boys.

I purchased Alpha Omega's Lifepac Bible, but the boys have chosen instead to use the Notgrass curriculum. I am fine with that decision. I enjoy very much seeing what they draw each day.

Originally, we were going to use The Story of the World with our Sonlight Core. However, I have felt very convicted that we need to study history from a Christian perspective instead of a secular one. I am very excited to start MOH. This will be our first year using it and making a timeline. The boys will also make a notebook to go with our study. I will most likely opt to do notebooking in place of making our memory cards.

What are you using this year in your homeschool? Do you have a list of readers/read alouds that shouldn't be missed; if so please share the list. I have gleaned much from others on this journey and my hope is that I can encourage others along the way as well.

Blessings for this school year,
NCMom
